A105 Large-Diameter Ball Valve: Essentials

Published by Jodith Valves September 25,2025

In industrial fluid control, the A105 large-diameter ball valve is a reliable choice, crafted from A105 carbon steel—known for strong mechanical properties and durability. It’s designed to handle large flow rates, suiting the needs of various industrial systems with large-diameter pipelines.

Thanks to its outstanding performance, this valve is widely used across key industries. In the oil and gas sector, it works in upstream extraction, midstream long-distance transport, and downstream refining, withstanding high pressure and harsh conditions to control crude oil, natural gas, and hydrocarbons. For water treatment, it manages raw water, treated water, and wastewater in municipal plants, adjusting intake from rivers or lakes and ensuring even distribution, while also aiding sewage flow through treatment stages. In power generation, it’s used in thermal plants (for steam and water circulation) and hydropower plants (to regulate penstock flow, stabilizing power output). The chemical industry also relies on it to handle corrosive and toxic fluids, controlling raw materials and finished products with reliable sealing.

The A105 large-diameter ball valve has notable features that enhance its utility. Its A105 carbon steel material offers high tensile and yield strength, good low-temperature impact resistance, and easy weldability, simplifying installation. It ensures reliable sealing through floating or trunnion-mounted ball designs, paired with high-quality materials like PTFE, graphite, or metal gaskets—these materials resist chemicals and high temperatures, maintaining tight sealing long-term. With a large-diameter structure, smooth inner body, and full-bore or reduced-bore ball design, it delivers high flow capacity: full-bore minimizes pressure loss for maximum flow, while reduced-bore saves cost without sacrificing much flow efficiency. Operation is straightforward via lever or gear operators (for manual use) or electric/pneumatic actuators (for remote automation), and maintenance is easy too—its simple structure with fewer moving parts reduces failures, sealing components are replaceable, and the rust-resistant A105 steel extends service life.

When installing the valve, it should be placed horizontally or vertically as required, with fluid flow aligned to the arrow on the valve body. Pipelines must be cleaned first to remove debris that could damage seals, and connecting bolts should be tightened evenly to specs for a secure fit. For maintenance, regular inspections check for damage, corrosion, or leakage and ensure smooth operation; moving parts like valve stems need lubrication with compatible products; worn sealing components (such as O-rings or gaskets) should be replaced with matching specs if leaks occur; and the valve’s inner and outer surfaces should be cleaned regularly to remove deposits.

Overall, the A105 large-diameter ball valve is a versatile, reliable fluid control tool for industrial use. Understanding its applications, features, and proper installation and maintenance helps ensure it operates efficiently long-term, supporting safe and smooth industrial pipeline systems.
