The valve seal is a vital component of the valve, and the quality of the sealing surface has a direct impact on the valve's service life. The primary function of the valve seal is to prevent leakage. The valve seal is in direct contact with the media in the pipeline and serves to prevent the media flow of a component. Consequently, the surface sealing material assumes a pivotal role in guaranteeing the quality of the sealing surface, thereby influencing the overall quality of the valve.
Corrosion Resistance
Corrosion refers to the sealing surface under the action of the medium, the surface is a damaged process. If the surface is subjected to this type of damage, the center exclusion of volatility can not be guaranteed, therefore, the sealing surface material must be corrosion-resistant. The corrosion resistance of the material mainly depends on the composition of the material and its chemical stability.
Abrasion resistance
Abrasion, the sealing surface of the relative movement process, the material caused by friction and damage. This damage will inevitably lead to the destruction of the sealing surface, therefore, the sealing surface material must have good anti-scratch performance, especially the gate valve. Material abrasion resistance is often determined by the internal nature of the material.
Erosion resistance
Erosion, that is, the medium flows through the sealing surface at high speed, so that the sealing surface has been damaged process. This damage is more obvious in the high-temperature, high-pressure steam medium used in butterfly valves, and safety valves, the seal is very destructive, therefore, erosion resistance is also one of the important requirements of sealing surface materials.
The coefficients of linear expansion of the seal face and body material should be approximate, which is more important for the design of the inlaid seals, so as not to be susceptible to additional stresses and cause loosening at high temperatures. When used in high-temperature conditions, there should be sufficient oxidation resistance, thermal fatigue resistance, thermal cycling, and other issues.
